Privacy policy
What is collected, why, and the choices you have. In short: the calculators run in your browser, the site carries no advertising, and the only measurement is a cookieless page counter.
Calculator inputs stay local
The numbers you enter into any calculator are processed in your browser. They are not sent to compoundcoast servers, are not stored server-side, and are never sent to any analytics service.
On most calculators — the accumulation, financial-independence and drawdown tools — changing an input also rewrites the page URL, so the scenario becomes a permalink you can copy. No request is made at that moment, but once the inputs are in the URL they are part of the address of the next request, if you reload, bookmark, or share that link. The fund pages under /dividend-calculators/, including the side-by-side comparisons, do not do this: their inputs stay in the page and never enter the address bar at all.
Advertising — none today
No advertising is served on this site at present. No ad network tag, no ad cookie, and no advertising identifier is loaded on any page. The site is intended to be funded by display advertising eventually, and that is the only revenue model being pursued — there are no lead-capture forms, no affiliate links, and nothing about you is sold. If and when advertising is introduced, this page will be updated to name the network and describe its cookies before any ad tag goes live.
Analytics — cookieless page counting
One measurement script runs on every page: Cloudflare Web Analytics. The script is fetched from static.cloudflareinsights.com and it posts the page-view measurement to cloudflareinsights.com. Cloudflare provides it as a cookieless product — it sets no cookie and no advertising identifier — and no profile of you is built, sold, or combined with data brokers. Its purpose is to show which calculators get used and which pages break.
Cloudflare is the only third party any page contacts. Because Cloudflare also serves the site, its edge additionally asks browsers to report failed network requests to a.nel.cloudflare.com; that fires only when a request fails. What Cloudflare retains is governed by Cloudflare's own privacy documentation.
What reaches Cloudflare, and on what basis
Any request to a website reveals certain data to whoever serves it. For this site that is Cloudflare, and it means Cloudflare receives your IP address, user-agent string, referring page, and the URL you requested. No account, name, or email is involved, and calculator inputs are never reported to the measurement beacon, which sends the path without its query string. The one way an input can reach Cloudflare is inside a URL you request — see the paragraph above on permalinks. The site sends Referrer-Policy: strict-origin so a permalink you are viewing is not passed on when you click through to another page.
For visitors in the EEA and UK: the legal basis is legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)) in seeing which pages are used and which fail, weighed against an interest that is minimal because the measurement is cookieless and builds no profile. Cloudflare acts as a processor and is based in the United States, so this involves an international transfer, which Cloudflare covers through its own transfer mechanisms and Data Processing Addendum. Retention is set by Cloudflare, not by this site.
Browser storage
The site stores one thing in your browser's local storage: your light/dark theme choice. It never leaves your device, is not a cookie, and clearing site data removes it.
Consent management
No cookie of any kind is set — no advertising cookie, no analytics cookie, no session cookie — so there is presently nothing to ask consent for and the site shows no consent banner. A consent mechanism will be added at the same time as any advertising tag, not after it.
Your choices (GDPR / CCPA)
- Consent: nothing to accept or decline today, since no non-essential cookie is set. Should that change, the choice will be presented before the cookie is set, and will be reversible at any time.
- Access and deletion: because the site holds no account and no server-side record of your inputs, there is little personal data to request — but you may still contact us with any privacy request.
- Do Not Sell / Share: compoundcoast does not sell or share your personal information, and holds no personal information to sell.
